This Is Where You’re Taking Us

A young girl, Fatima, sits on her hospital bed in the city of Nasiriyah, Iraq.

This is Fatima sitting on her bed in the hospital ward with a newly mended heart.

The exciting thing about Fatima is that she was operated on before we even landed in southern Iraq. Why are we so excited about that? Because it means that each time we show up on a Remedy Mission, and then get on the plane to leave, you’re helping us leave behind a heart center filled with local staff who are better equipped and trained to provide lifesaving heart surgeries while we’re away.

Fatima is a symbol of where all of this is heading.

Thanks to you, we have helped invest more than 45,000 hours of hands-on training here in southern Iraq. And thanks to you, each additional hour means better care and more lifesaving heart surgeries for children like Fatima and others we’ll never have the chance to meet!
